Overview:
The role will be based in British Embassy, Amman and is offered on Amman Terms and Conditions. The CSSF team is part of the Yemen Office Network which also has a presence in Riyadh. At present there is no travel to Yemen, but this may change. Any future travel to Yemen will be subject to strict HMG guidance and will be considered in close cooperation with the Job Holder. The job holder will not be expected to move to Sana’a if the Embassy re-opens, however the job holder will be given the option to apply for the role if they meet the requirements for living and working in Yemen.
The Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) provides development and security support to countries at risk of conflict or instability. The CSSF is a flexible fund, with an annual budget of £1.2bn, which supports and delivers security, defence, peacekeeping, peace-building and stability activity in over 70 countries using both Official Development Assistance (ODA) and non-ODA funding.
The UK’s security and wider international interests are directly impacted where other countries are at risk of conflict or instability. The CSSF supports work to reduce that risk in these countries where the UK has key interests. Through the CSSF, the UK and our international partners are more secure from threats such as terrorism, corruption and illegal migration or trafficking.
The CSSF Yemen Programme is a high value £10m fully cross-government portfolio which attracts substantial political interest, supporting the implementation of HMG country and regional strategies.
